Cat the Celebrant

Queer-led celebrancy creating exceptional ceremonies with warmth, meaning, and connection.

Cat Halsan came back to us when she launched a new venture—Cat the Celebrant—after we’d previously built a website for her earlier offering, House of Halsan. This time, the goal was to create a digital home that matched the new work: modern, queer-led celebrancy, grounded in warmth, care, and impeccable storytelling.

We supported Cat to translate a brand-new offering into a clear, confident online presence—so potential clients could quickly “get” the offer, feel the trust at the heart of the work, and take the next step towards booking.

The Challenge

Cat was starting a brand-new consultancy, and needed the site to do real work—not just look good. That meant building for search visibility from the start, so Cat could be found on Google by the right people, in the right places. At the same time, the new venture had to feel distinct from House of Halsan, while still building on Cat’s existing reputation and comms expertise.

We also knew the site would need to evolve as the business grew, so it had to be straightforward to update—especially when it came to refining copy and on-page messaging. And, as always, accessibility was non-negotiable: colour contrast, legibility, and clarity all had to hold up in practice, not just in theory.

What We Did

We started from scratch with a short UX workshop, focusing on what someone needs to understand (and feel) to book a celebrant: clarity, trust, and a sense of connection. From there, we led the UX, UI, and build as one cohesive process—so the structure, visuals, and content flow all worked together, end-to-end.

Cat arrived with a logo, colour palette, and early typography choices, which we refined into a more robust and usable brand system. We tweaked the palette to improve accessible contrast, strengthened typographic hierarchy and legibility, and translated the overall vibe into a design language that could flex across the site.

Finally, we shaped the information architecture and copy flow to support both search visibility and conversion: clear navigation, confident positioning language, and straightforward next steps.

Impact

Within the first year after launching Cat’s website, Cat secured nine months of freelance work, with four clients booked in the first three months—a strong early signal that the positioning and online presence were doing their job.

Qualitatively, Cat has described feeling empowered to “breathe life into my ideas… and transform thoughts into a platform I’m super proud of”, highlighting the value of a process that felt clear, inclusive, and free of jargon.
