Clausework
Clausework is a solo employment law practice based in Toronto, led by Rika Sawatsky. Their work sits at the intersection of employment law and gender equity—supporting employers and employees with practical, people-first legal support.
When Rika first reached out, they wanted a brand and website that felt more approachable than the typical “serious suit” tone of legal services: warmer, more expressive, and more human—while still communicating credibility and expertise. The site’s role was straightforward: a clear, informative home for prospective clients, with a contact form and blog for ongoing insight and guidance.

The Challenge
Clausework needed a digital presence that could hold a few things at once.
It had to feel trustworthy and professional, without leaning on the default visual language of corporate law. It had to make a broad, values-led practice easy to navigate—so visitors could quickly understand who Rika helps, what support looks like, and how to get in touch. And it needed to be maintainable: structured clearly enough that updates and future content would remain accessible, findable, and easy to manage.
What We Did
We partnered with Clausework to overhaul both brand and website—translating the practice’s values into a cohesive, expressive identity and a Webflow site built for clarity.
Brand-wise, we developed a direction that brought in more colour and warmth, with a visual system that feels friendly and confident rather than formal or intimidating. Alongside the core identity work (including logo development), we focused on creating a look and feel that could flex across pages and content—so the site could stay interesting and recognisably “Clausework” even as new posts and updates are added over time.
For the website, we built a simple, user-friendly structure with the essentials: an informative set of pages, a contact pathway, and a blog. We prioritised scannability and plain-language clarity, ensuring key information is easy to find quickly—especially for people arriving with stress, urgency, or limited time.
Under the hood, we followed best-practice foundations for accessibility and search: clean, semantic structure; thoughtful metadata; and patterns that support long-term content maintenance. We also supported handover with training so the site can be updated confidently without needing to “phone a developer” for every change.
Impact
The Clausework site and brand now feel aligned with the practice itself: clear, confident, and human.
For people visiting the site, the experience is simpler and more welcoming—designed to reduce friction and make it easier to understand services, build trust, and take the next step.
For the organisation, the site is built to grow: a consistent brand system, a maintainable Webflow build, and a structure that supports ongoing publishing and iteration. That combination makes it easier to keep the site current, strengthen visibility over time, and communicate expertise in a way that feels genuinely approachable.
