Wedu

An impact-led brand refresh and modular WordPress website designed to scale women's leadership across South and Southeast Asia.

Wedu works across South and Southeast Asia to support women in becoming confident, connected leaders—through leadership programmes, educational funding, and a community that makes that growth possible. As a feminist-led design studio, we partnered with Wedu on an impact-led brand refresh and a new WordPress website that could better reflect their mission, make their work easier to navigate, and give their team a platform they could confidently maintain over time.

This wasn’t about adding more complexity—it was about resourcing their team with a digital platform that fosters growth and sustainability. The goal was a clear, accessible site that helps different audiences quickly understand who Wedu is, what they offer, and how to get involved.

The Challenge

Wedu needed a website that matched the ambition of their work: warm, direct, and values-led, while still feeling practical and trustworthy. Drawing on our lived experience with community-led organisations, we understood that the previous site and structure made it harder to surface key information clearly. The team needed a setup that wouldn’t rely on developers for every update, bridging the gap between their global mission and their day-to-day digital capacity.

At the same time, the site had to hold a mix of content types—core pages, programme information, news and impact stories—without feeling overwhelming. Accessibility and legibility were non-negotiable: the site needed to be usable across devices and for a wide range of readers to ensure global inclusivity.

What We Did

We approached the project as two connected pieces: an inclusive brand refresh to bring consistency and confidence to Wedu’s visual language, and a modular WordPress build designed for long-term flexibility and independence.

On the brand side, we refined the foundations—typography, colour, and overall tone—so the identity could show up consistently across the website and wider communications. Our strategy was to keep Wedu’s presence bold and recognisable, while ensuring layouts stayed calm and readable.

On the web side, we engineered a modular WordPress site with reusable blocks and page templates. This gives the Wedu team the straightforward digital infrastructure to publish updates, add new content, and evolve the site as programmes and priorities shift. We also delivered quality assurance testing across common browsers and devices, and provided bespoke CMS training so the team could manage the platform with confidence.

Impact

The refreshed brand and website gave Wedu a clearer way to tell their story. By providing an intuitive user experience (UX), we ensured it is easier for visitors to understand what Wedu does, explore programmes, and connect with the work through stories and updates.

By designing for digital autonomy, the modular WordPress setup reduced friction for the team: publishing and maintaining content no longer needs a specialist hand each time, which supports sustainability in day-to-day comms. In practice, that means Wedu can focus more energy on their community and programmes, and less on wrestling with a platform that wasn’t built for their specific needs.

A branding guideline spread for Wedu showcasing logo variations, colour palettes, typography, and image placements. The primary red and white logo is prominently displayed, alongside visual elements and examples of its application across various mediums.
