Print design encompasses anything that is intentionally created to exist in the physical world. It’s about crafting documents that make a tangible impact and resonate with your audience. Whether it’s a visually stunning magazine spread, a thought-provoking booklet, or an engaging annual report, we have the expertise to capture attention and leave a lasting impression on your audience.

Before our founder started Studio Lutalica, they launched their own magazine, Vagina-nomics and as a studio, we continue to have a special place in our hearts for editorial design.

So what actually does this type of design cover? When we say editorial design, we mean anything that has multiple pages. For example magazines, books, booklets, pamphlets and brochures. But also annual reports, journals and staff training materials. We can help you with page layout, printing, illustrations, photography and editing, as needed.

Two areas we specialise in are Impact Reports and Annual Reports. We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with inspiring organisations such as Womankind Worldwide and New Horizon Youth Centre to create original report documents.

Our aim is not only to create visually stunning layouts but also to ensure that the content flows seamlessly, dually engaging readers who will read every word, and those who only have a chance to skim.

Layout, hierarchy of elements and imagery can be just as important as copy (dare we say!) when it comes to relaying your message. That’s why we work closely with our clients to truly grasp what they’re trying to communicate when it comes to editorial work.

We believe in the power of words and visuals coming together to tell powerful stories and inspire change. Tell us your story and we’ll help you bring it to life!

Packaging is an incredibly important tool and should be thought of as a fundamental part of any product you’re putting out there. It’s one way your customer interacts with you consistently, in their daily lives. Crucially, packaging doesn’t just mean a cardboard box! It could be a ribbon around a pen you’re selling or a special envelope that encourages people to open a fundraising letter.

From boxes and bags to labels and tags, we specialise in crafting packaging solutions that reflect your brand’s identity and values.

More than just a functional container, packaging is an opportunity to tell your brand’s story, evoke emotions, and engage with your potential customers. In today’s digital world, tactility and physicality have never been more important.

Whether you’re launching a new product or revamping your existing packaging, we’ll work closely with you to bring your vision to life.

From concept development to final production, we ensure that every aspect of your packaging aligns seamlessly with your brand identity. Our goal is to create packaging that captures attention, enhances the experience of your product, and inspires brand loyalty.

Collateral and printed assets can include leaflets, billboards, posters, brochures, and mail inserts. Basically, anything you print that is part of a campaign or awareness-raising exercise. This is about the tangible material that brings your ideas to life in the physical domain. So, if you’re looking to create some buzz or share important information, let us help you do it.

If you’re strategic about it, printed materials can be a really powerful way of sticking in people’s heads. You might roll the dice more than in a digital campaign, but we reckon there’s something extra special about print materials now that so much of our media is consumed online.

Think of billboards, bus stop posters, printed flyers, and advertisements in tube stops—all designed to catch the eye and create awareness. For a while at least, these printed assets become part of someone’s daily commute or trip to the local shops. When done right, you can situate your message in someone’s internal and external landscape, where you have the potential to form a lasting impression.

Collateral is the industry name for any supporting materials that accompany a main publication or an event. For example, if you’re releasing a report, you might also create print materials to disseminate its contents. This can include eye-catching posters that grab attention, inserts for post that provide additional information, and other materials that reinforce your message. We can help you create visually appealing and cohesive collateral that aligns seamlessly with your brand identity.

Beyond aesthetics, we recognise that collateral and printed assets have a powerful impact on perception and action. Together with your specific needs, we aim to connect with your audience and drive meaningful results for your business or cause.

By environmental design, we don’t mean biophilic or eco-friendly design (though we’re interested in both!) we’re talking about any piece of graphic design that is tied to a physical place.

Environmental design involves the strategic integration of graphic elements within physical spaces. It encompasses any graphic elements that exist within an environment, such as signs in a building.

Design and graphics for interiors are about the relationship between design and space. Good environmental design will enhance your experience of being in a space. For example, you might have a better time at a festival because the signage meant you always knew how to find your way, and what you could do if you felt uncomfortable.

As an agency, Lutalica is interested in using environmental design to facilitate safety, well-being and accessibility. Signage plays a vital role in providing directions, emergency exits, and accessibility information. Effective signage placement and design can be life-saving in critical situations, ensuring that occupants can navigate the space efficiently and find necessary resources.

Beyond functionality, environmental design and graphics for interiors also create visually appealing and immersive experiences. We help clients create spaces with a distinct visual identity, so visitors form complete memories of your store, event or restaurant (for example). Whether it’s a retail store, office, museum, or hospitality venue, the graphic elements within the environment help to reinforce the brand identity, evoke desired emotions, and enhance the overall ambience.

Through a combination of creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of human behaviour, we can help you create the right environment for your audience.

Print Design Process

1

We start by getting a better understanding of what you need.

We send you a discovery questionnaire, which we’ll go through together when we bring together key members of your team and ours for a discovery call. This is a chance for us to get to know each other, establish expectations, and explore your vision for this project. With the information gathered, we’ll explore various styles, typography, colour palettes, and imagery that will capture the aesthetic, technical and strategic goals for this project, and send over a moodboard document for your feedback and approval.

2

Our talented team of designers generate design concepts.

We bring together everything we’ve learned to generate initial designs. We’ll send these to you for feedback, and once again your input is highly valued. We encourage an iterative process, involving recursive steps between research, ideation and critique. The more precise a client is in these initial stages, the more likely it is we’ll get the final deliverables right.

3

We translate these concepts into the final deliverables.

Taking your feedback and any final copy, photography and assets needed to complete the Print designs to create the final deliverables. Pending your sign-off we’ll send over the digital files in whatever format is best for you.

4

If desired, we liaise with a reputable printer to deliver your designs.

Should you wish, our team can assist with Print and Production – just let us know at the top of the project and we’ll add it to the quote. Working with our trusted printing partners, we’ll ensure that the printed product delivers what we promised on screen. We can also give you valuable recommendations on printing techniques, paper stocks, finishes, and quantities that will align with your budget and specific requirements.
